Thailand has been a major source for blue sapphires for many years, producing all grades of sapphires. Kanchanaburi on the western side of the country has the largest sapphire deposits in the country but production is much lower than previous years. Although most of the production form these mines are of commercial quality stones, there have been some very fine sapphires found in Kanchanaburi.
